Am I covered for Physiotherapy?
Northern Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, is a private rehabilitation facility. Funding for our services is available through the following sources:
- Automobile Insurance: if you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident
- Workplace Safety & Insurance Board WSIB: if you have been injured at work
- Extended Health Insurance Plan: often through an employer, union, retirement package or school
- Department of Veteran’s Affairs
Many of our clients choose to pay directly for our services.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No. A referral for physiotherapy services is not required in Ontario, some extended Health insurance plans require a physicians referral prior to reimbursing their claimants.
Do I need a “Sports Injury” to see a physiotherapist?
No. We treat clients from 3 years old to 103 years old with all kinds of injuries. The mechanism of injury is often relevant, we can help with your rehabilitation whether you were injured in a football tackle, a car accident, or even if you suffer from pain of an unknown cause (i.e.: channel surfing).
How long are the appointments?
The initial assessment is approximately 45 minutes and consists of an interview, physical assessment, and if time permits, your initial treatment. Treatment visits are scheduled every 20 minutes for one-on-one time with your Physiotherapist, allow extra time to perform exercise or undergo modalities (i.e.: acupuncture) at your own pace.
How many treatments will I require?
This depends on the nature of your injury, how long you’ve had your injury, the severity of the injury, what your personal goals are, and of course the fact that all people respond differently to physiotherapy intervention. Your Physiotherapist will give you an estimate following your initial assessment.
